CORVALLIS, Ore. – Mike Riley has been named the head coach of the San Antonio franchise of the Alliance of American Football League. The first-year league begins play in February and culminates with its championship game in late April.
“There already is tremendous interest from coaches around the country to join our team,” Oregon State head football coach Jonathan Smith said. “We will hire the right coach who will help us build on the significant momentum we have underway in recruiting and student-athlete development.”
Riley had served as the assistant head coach/tight ends coach for the Beavers.
“I want to thank Coach Riley for his contributions to our program and wish him the best in his new challenge,” Smith said.
Oregon State begins summer offseason workouts Monday, June 25 and returns to formal practice Friday, August 3 in preparation for the 2018 season.
