What Smith said about the closed scrimmage over the weekend
- Beavers went about 90 plays, with a lot of guys getting turns
- Zach Card stood out to Smith, said he made a couple of big plays
- Jimmy Valsin also came down with a few nice catches
- Nikko Taylor was good and "around the quarterback"
- Olu Omotosho "played with great effort" and showed up a lot
- Alton Julian went about 15-20 snaps live during the scrimmage... He's 100% cleared and they're ramping him up...
- Kicking game: Josh Green had some solid punts, Everett didn't kick due to groin tightness, Atticus was perfect on the day per Smith
- The Beavers are likely done live tackling...
- Smith said the QB race is becoming "more and more clear" and that they're due to have meetings with each position coach and player later this week... I would anticipate we all know publicly it'll be DJ when we get the depth chart next Monday...
- Jonathan Smith said the Beavers are doing quite well injury wise - Nobody they're expecting to miss the opener...

Oregon State was back at the Prothro practice fields for day No. 16 of fall camp. Just two more practices remaining in fall camp after today before the team gets Thursday/Friday off, and game week ramps up. Here’s everything that happened today.
- Jonathan Smith said after practice that Alton Julian has been fully cleared for contact, and is ramping up to a high snap count. Julian participated in the closed scrimmage on Saturday (15-20 snaps) and was running with the third team again today.
- Redshirt sophomore Trevor Pope is another guy who saw the field for the first time this fall, mixing in with the second team wide receivers. He had previously been dealing with a minor undisclosed ailment…
- Atticus Sappington was 100% on kicks in the scrimmage, Everett Hayes was unavailable with a tight groin, per Smith. We didn’t get to see the kickers today.
- Kitan Oladapo was playing more reps with the second team as he did last week alongside a rotating group of youngsters like Jermod McCoy, Josiah Johnson, Drake Vickers, and others. Jonathan Smith said as he did last week that it’s good for those guys to run alongside a veteran, see how they process the game and the speed they move with. There’s no worry about Kitan losing his starting spot.
- We saw ILB Michael Erhart with the second team linebackers today for the first time this camp. Isaiah Chisom occupied that spot when we were last there on Thursday.
- Most of the work we saw today was screens, seven on seven, and red zone. DJ Uiagalelei got most of the time with the first team, with Ben getting ~30% of the reps with the top unit. Jonathan Smith said the QB competition is “getting more and more clear”, but didn’t name a winner……. yet.
- Highlights from today’s practice include:
- Good pair of back to back plays from the outside linebackers. Drew Chatfield nearly intercepted a screen pass from DJ U, then a couple plays later, Nikko Taylor ripped around the edge for a sack
- Tight end Gabe Milbourn housed a 60+ yard touchdown
- Jesiah Irish, who looks like he’s locked up the No. 3 WR role, made a couple more really nice catches in zone defense, those throws coming from Ben Gulbranson, left plenty of room for YAC. He also snagged a touchdown during red zone, where Trent Bray sent his entire defense at DJ and the junior QB fell backwards and lofted the pass to a wide open Irish.
- During the same period, Silas Bolden found the end zone on a WR tunnel screen. So did Jeremiah Noga from Aidan Chiles on a sprintout to the right
