An SB Nation article from yesterday discussed who the national champions might be this year, based on a ratio called the Blue Chip Ratio: the % of signees from the previous 4 classes that were 4 and 5 star versus 2 and 3 star (if you have 85 players, and 45 of them were former 4 and 5 star, this would equate to a Blue Chip Ratio of 53%. Alabama has a Blue Chip Ratio of 77% this year).
The writer found that every national champion since 2005 (4 classes after Rivals and Scout started tracking / rating players) has had 50% or greater Blue Chip Ratio.
Here is yesterday's article.
And here is the original article.
P.S. - our blue chip ratio this year is 0.02. Tied with Colorado and WSU for last in the Pac 12.
