The first week of practice is in the books for the Beavers as they will head off to Bend on Saturday. Here are the most important notes and nuggets that we learned from day three of fall camp.

- Big news of the day: Defensive ends Isaac Garcia is no longer with the football team, per an OSU spokesman. This is massive for the Beavers because they have already lost so much depth on the defensive line. Craig Evans is still in limbo, and the Beavers already lost Kenny Turnier as he transferred. It was unclear on whether or not Garcia would be eligible this season, but if he was, it would have been a much needed body for OSU on the line. And with Liuchan leaving, the depth just continues to diminish. Right now, the Beavs are in a situation where if they lose a few guys to injury, walk ons might be starting on the D-Line.

- TCU graduate transfer running back Trevorris Johnson was officially admitted to OSU today, per an OSU spokesman. I didn’t see him take any reps today, but I'm sure that will change in the coming days.

- Thomas Tyner is getting better day by day: The former Oregon Duck is a quick learner and it appears that the Beavers are content to feed him the ball. Near the end of practice, I noted several plays where he dominated. The first was a run-pass-option where he was able to juke out two linebackers and cut up-field for a 15 yard gain. Near the end of the play, it took several corners to take him down. On the same drive, the Beavers handed him the ball several times near the goal line in a smashmouth situation. He didn’t reach the endzone, but the Beavers are confident to feed Tyner. By the end of fall camp, he could be in line to be the main workhorse behind Ryan Nall.

- Darell Garretson continued to struggle today and he seems to be the No. 3 quarterback. His strength is his mobility where I think he is OSU’s best dual-threat QB. However, his arm accuracy has not been what it was in fall camp last year.

- Tight end Tuli Wily-Matagi was in a walking boot today on his right foot/leg.

- Today it was extremely hard to get a read on the first and second teams. I’m hoping that in the coming days, the Beavers will settle on solid 1st and 2nd string guys, but right now it’s just too hard with many players being shuffled all over the place.

- Jake Luton is still holding onto the ball a little too much. Today, I noticed that he has a tendency to step up into the pocket (which is good), but he wasn’t making the throws as quickly as he should have. He also needs to improve at looking off the safeties as well to free up his wideouts.

- Ryan Nall hasn’t been getting many reps this week, and I think that’s a good thing for the Beavs. At this point, he doesn’t have very much left to prove, and you want him to be healthy for you for the entire year, unlike last season.
