This past weekend the OSU Men's Lacrosse team traveled up to Covington, WA for the PNCLL Div. 1 playoffs. OSU won their semi-final game against Idaho 19-8 and beat Simon Fraser of British Columbia 14-8 to win the PNCLL Conference Title which secured their bid to compete in the 2015 MCLA National Tournament. OSU remains undefeated at 12-0 and team will travel to southern California to begin the tournament on Monday, May 11th. Although ranked #4 nationally the last several weeks, OSU was seeded #8 and plays #9 Cal Poly in the 1st Round at 7:15pm. (They previously beat Cal Poly 10-5 in March.)
Quick side note- Colin Kacinski, one of the captains of the team and players included in video below attended the same high school as Sean Mannion and also played football with him at Foothill. He was named MVP of last weekend's tournament.
The lacrosse program is almost entirely self-funded and requires financial support of its players, alumni and donors to maintain its existence. To help with fundraising for the trip to the tournament, OSU Men's Lacrosse has partnered with OSU Foundation to launch CREATE Oregon State Lacrosse fundraising project. This is a crowd-funding project that is run through the Foundation and any donation is welcome and tax deductible.
Check out the video below to learn more about the team and if you are interested in supporting the team financially as they compete for the national championship you can donate at the link. If you'd like to follow the team at the tournament all games will be streamed on www.mcla.us. OSU's 1st game is 5/11 at 7:15pm and if they win they continue to 2nd round on 5/12 at 4pm.
