Oregon State has a huge weekend ahead as they will be hosting six targets for their official visits. Some may be relatively new faces, and others not so much, but one thing remains the same, the red carpet will be out this weekend in Corvallis.

Slaughter and I take a look at the players who will be visiting this weekend below:

THE SPIN: While Hunter is a Cal verbal heading into the weekend, he hasn’t yet seen the red carpet that Oregon State’s coaching and support staff have put on the past couple weekends.

Whether it was the weekend that landed Ben Gulbranson and Zeriah Beason, or the weekend that landed Tavis Shippen, Nashon Wright, and Kyrei Fisher, the Beavers have made lasting impressions on official visits that have led to commitments.

While flipping Hunter from Cal may prove challenging, Oregon State has the advantage of having multiple officials on campus this weekend and often times, it’s at these weekend visits where recruits start talking about playing together and committing in bunches.

With Beason as the only receiver pledge in the 2020 class, flipping Hunter would be a big coup for the Beavers.

THE SPIN: While Oregon State is set for the next couple years with a strong stable of running backs, securing the pledge of an uncommitted Newell would be huge for Smith and Co.

While Newell boasts offers from the likes of Oregon, USC, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State, I like the Beavers’ chances to make a strong impression and perhaps put themselves into deeper consideration moving forward.

At 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, he’s a bigger back, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the ability to make plays in space. His hands, route running, and pass-catching ability out of the backfield is as equally impressive to his ability to run between the tackles and move north and south quickly.

With Newell being a California native, look for Smith and Co. who pride themselves on dominating California, to sell the Oregon State vision with gusto as they’ll look to land a dynamic and headlining running back in the 2020 class.

THE SPIN: Though Latrell Bankston has only had his offer for less than a month, if there is anyone visiting this weekend that you would consider a lean, Bankston is the guy.

Bankston wasn’t heavily recruited out of high school, and his visit this weekend will be the first official he has ever taken. There is no shortage of excitement, as Bankston has expressed multiple times via Twitter that he cannot wait to get to Corvallis.

The last time we spoke with Bankston, the interest level was super high on both sides. Beaver coaches love the size and potential that Bankston brings to the table, and Bankston loves the consistency and effort shown by the Beaver coaches.

When asked if a commitment was possible following his OV, Bankston had some promising words to say - “probably, to be honest.”

THE SPIN: The six-foot-five, 300-pound offensive lineman has been committed to Oregon State Since the end of May. As the only committed player visiting this weekend, Darling will likely be spending a decent amount of time recruiting and trying to get other players to join the class.

Though his focus will likely be on other players, Oregon State coaches will absolutely keep the red carpet rolled out for Darling to solidify his commitment and show him a great weekend at his future home.

THE SPIN: The one-time Arizona State commit has had a busy June after decommitting from the Sun Devils in May. Lemon is fresh off of a visit to Florida, where the Gators made a very strong impression.

The six-foot-four, 275-pound defensive end has racked up several impressive offers throughout his time at Mesa CC, but the Beavers could have a slight advantage. Lemon prefers to play defensive end in college, and says Oregon State is one of the only schools offering him at that position.

The Beavers staff has made their money on official visits this recruiting cycle, opening the eyes of multiple players who weren’t necessarily planning to commit on their visits. Lemon is another one of those guys who doesn’t seem to be in a hurry, but that could change after a solid weekend in Corvallis.

THE SPIN: Oregon State has been actively recruiting Overman since 2018, and this weekend they will have their chance to become his top school. Overman has recently shown increased interest in the Beavers, so the staff will be putting on the full court press in hopes of a commitment.

Overman recently took a trip to Tennessee to visit Vanderbilt, and loved the vibe he got in Nashville. That said, his relationship with Beaver coaches added to how long they have been recruiting him could be the difference.
