Oregon State offensive lineman pledge Travis Mackay made the short trip over from Portland to take in an official visit in Corvallis.
"I had a lot of fun," Mackay said. "I've been to a few games this year, but it was the first time I've really seen campus. I liked it, and I'm excited to spend my next 4-5 years there.
"I liked how everything was pretty close to each other. It's all pretty new stuff too. I'm excited to actually be there and learn."
When Mackay was an underclassmen in high school, he was at Central Catholic with Ryan Nall and Blake Brandel, two of OSU's best players. Brandel was Mackay's host on the visit.
"It was awesome. We went to high school together, so it was good to hang out with them again and get to know some of the football players and their friends," Mackay said. "With me, Blake, and Ryan, it's going to be pretty fun."
Mackay enjoyed his time talking with the Beavers' staff as well.
"They're definitely looking for me to be playing," explained Mackay. "I'm going to try my hardest to play this year - if not, then next year. I have a pretty good chance of competing for a spot in the rotation."
A couple of weeks ago, Mackay told BeaversEdge.com that he was considering taking an official visit to Boise State before his recruitment was all said and done.
He will no longer be taking that visit and will sign with OSU on February 1.
"I'm actually not going to Boise State. I'm going to stick with Oregon State, 100%. I was always going to stick with Oregon State. There was just no point for me to even go to Boise State. It would've been a waste of time."
