I was at a gathering last night that included some long time friends who are also long time duck alumni. Not the johnny come lately douchebags who troll the internet and spew trash at Autzen, but guys my age who know real misery when they sucked in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
They universally agreed this may be the year it all comes crashing down. They don't think the kid from MSU is anywhere as good as Adams was, in fact they think by game 2 the true freshmen will be the guy. They also believe the program has peaked, and that Helfrich never had a chance when Chip left, that he isn't a leader. They also said the defense is in terrible shape and that it will take 3 years to upgrade it. Two of the 4 picked the Ducks to finish last in the North. Who knows? but it was interesting conversation.
They did say they believe OSU has the guy to do it here, in fact all them would trade Helfrich for Andersen in a minute.
