Baseball Heimlich and Grenier honored by CBHF

LUBBOCK, Texas – Oregon State senior Luke Heimlich and junior Cadyn Grenier have both been recognized by the College Baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Heimlich is one of five finalists for the Pitcher of the Year award while Grenier is one of five for the Brooks Wallace Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top shortstop.

Heimlich leads the nation with 14 wins, and is tied for fourth with a school single-season record 139 strikeouts. The lefty sports a 2.49 earned run average in 104 2/3 innings of work.

Over his last seven starts, Heimlich has allowed 31 hits and 10 earned runs in 53 innings, a 1.70 ERA. He has struck out 82 batters to just seven walks over that stretch and is 7-0.

Grenier, meanwhile, has made highlight-reel after highlight-reel play this season, and has a .970 fielding percentage with just six errors in 55 games. He went the last 12 games of the season without committing an error and did not have one in back-to-back games.

Grenier turned 22 double plays this season, and has 55 in his career.
