Press conference notables
- Gary opens by talking about Portland State, their game on Saturday vs BYU
- Beavs went over everything in their team meeting today. Gary still believes in the team. He points out that it was a close game in the fourth quarter but it "got out of hand."
"I believe in this crew of kids."
- Communication wasn't the biggest issue with the defense, but it was an issue, per GA. When he was asked about this around the 3:30 mark, he was pretty pissed.
- WATCH AT THE 4:20 mark... Gary Andersen roasts Xavier Crawford.. A reporter quoted Crawford from Saturday, and Gary didn't like what he heard... Gary said that they were ready to play.
- "You need to put on your big boy pants and get ready to play." ... Gary is definitely upset. And it seemed like he's upset with how his players talk to the media.
- Gary talked about how CSU was stacking the box. Gives credit to the CSU defense but says that they need to adjust the scheme as well as make the plays in the "throw game."
"They schemed it well. They did a nice job." - GA on CSU's D
- Gary said it's a good thing that nine different receivers caught a pass... He said that he wants to be a 60% run 40% pass team.
- Gary said that they're not good with the 30 sack/30 turnover right now. Their goal is to score 40 a game, and they missed the mark there.
- Gary feels that the O-line protected Jake well. He liked what he saw from the execution in the pass game.
- Gary was impressed with Titus Failauga, Jonathan Willis, Kalani Vakameilalo. On offense, they didn't have anyone with a "champion effort." He praised Kee Whetzel for his efforts on special teams calling him a "difference maker."
- Andrzej Hughes-Murray had some "ups and downs."
- Gary said that the pass rush was "much better." He credited some of Stevens' plays.
- On the true freshman, Gary said they did "okay." Kesi Ah-Hoy and David Morris played. I don't think any guys on offense did.
- Gary spoke to Kalani Sitake last night about the BYU-PSU game... Gary had a lot of good things to say about the PSU team.
