Tinkle Leads Beavers Past Prairie View A&M

CORVALLIS, Ore. –Tres Tinkle recorded his second career double-double to lead the Oregon State men's basketball team to a 78-58 season-opening win over Prairie View A&M Friday night at Gill Coliseum.

Tinkle, a sophomore from Missoula, Mont., scored 20 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds to lead the Beavers to a victory in front of a home crowd of 4,765.

Sophomore Drew Eubanks added 14 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots. The seven swats tied an Oregon State single-game record, also held by Gary Payton II (vs. Colorado, Feb. 21, 2015).

Freshman JaQuori McLaughlin came off the bench to score 12 points and made first collegiate bucket on a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer.

Senior Cheikh N'diaye got the start at center and chipped in a career-high nine points. Matt Dahlen, who rejoined the team last Friday, had career highs with three points and six rebounds, and Kendal Manuel added seven points in his Oregon State debut.

Oregon State had a 48-33 advantage on the glass and held the Panthers to 32.8 percent shooting (21-foer-64) from the field.

The Beavers return to action at 2 p.m. on Sunday against UTSA at Gill Coliseum going in a game that will be televised on Pac-12 Network.
