Corvallis – Diane Penny has been named the executive director for Learfield’s Beaver Sports Properties (BSP). Penny is responsible for enhancing the Oregon State University Athletics brand in the Portland Metropolitan area, and developing and overseeing existing corporate sponsorships.
“We are excited to have Ms. Penny rejoin our Oregon State team,” OSU Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Barnes said. “Her wealth of experience and knowledge from all facets of sports partnerships with universities is a tremendous plus, particularly as we continue to expand our presence in the Portland marketplace.”
Penny, who is headquartered in the OSU Portland Center, has been a member of the Learfield team since 2006. Most recently she led Learfield's Advance Team launching new university and college partnerships across the company's network. Prior to that, she served as the vice president for digital and television, general manager of San Diego State’s Aztec Sports Properties and was formerly with Oregon State as a senior account executive for BSP.
“I’m thankful to return to the Pacific Northwest and represent the outstanding, authentic brand that is Beaver Athletics,” Penny said. “There is unlimited potential to grow the Beaver brand throughout the Portland Metro area and the state. Penny began her professional career producing network television for CNN, Lifetime Television and ABC’s Good Morning America. She relocated to Portland in 2000 where she led sports content development for OregonLive and ultimately served as the director for both the advertising and marketing units.
She possesses a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and a master’s in business administration from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
