As the Beavers head to their final road game of the season against UCLA this weekend, the Beavers took their usual Thursday walk through in preparation for the Bruins.

The Beavers will have a tough task against the Bruins this Saturday. Even though they haven't lived up to the expectations of winning the PAC-12 south this season, they still are extremely athletic and well coached by Jim Mora Jr.

One of the more interesting things to note this week was that OSU has made a switch at the kicker position moving from Garrett Owens to Jordan Choukair.

“(Choukair) will be kicking field goals for us,” OSU coach Gary Andersen said. “We will go out there and see how it goes, but he will have that opportunity.”

With quarterback Josh Rosen out for the season, the Beavers will face a former walk on in Mike Fafaul this weekend. Andersen has seen Fafaul mature over the past few weeks.

“I think reps has made him much more comfortable,” Andersen said. “He definitely is in more command of the flow of the game. In their game against Utah he handled himself very well. He had some mistakes, but he dealt with them. Any quarterback who can score a bunch of points against Utah did a nice job.”

Practice Nuggets
  • Adley Rutschman was working on onside kicks to open the media portion of practice.
  • Andersen confirmed today that Marcus McMaryion will start against UCLA.

  • It was a very laid back walk through today, perhaps the most laid back of the season. The pace was slow, and there was almost no contact

  • The Beavers were working on pass execution. For a squad that ranks in the bottom of the NCAA in pass efficiency, it is imperative that they improve. Both Conor Blount and McMaryion were working on going through their progressions.

  • Blount and McMaryion were both getting almost equal reps with the 1’s. Even though McMaryion will be getting the start, look for Blount to get in game reps.

  • Paul Lucas was in the backfield with the 2’s. He had limited action against Stanford, but the Beavers will be looking to utilize the speedster from Phoenix.

  • Blount had a couple would be nice completions in the end zone. If they were throwing the ball, they would have been nice completions to Seth Collins and Ricky Ortiz.
Injury Note
  • Ryan Nall was out of the boot today, but he did not partake in the portion of practice open to the media.
Final Word
“(UCLA) is very talented and can recruit at an extremely high level,” Andersen said. “I think the youth in their program has the ability to show up very quickly which it has. They are a good football team with some tremendous athletes, and they are a skilled football team."
