SAN FRANCISCO – Call it the second Oregon State sweep in a week.

On Tuesday, the Pac-12 Conference announced that Jake Thompson and Cadyn Grenier were recognized with weekly honors for their efforts in the Beavers’ three-game sweep of Arizona State in Phoenix.

It’s the first weekly sweep of the Pac-12 honors for the Beavers since March 19, 2013 when Matt Boyd (Pitcher) and Michael Conforto (Player) were recognized.

Thompson, an economics major, is the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week after recording a career-high 10 strikeouts in Saturday’s 4-0 win. The right-handed redshirt junior worked 7 1/3 innings, scattered two hits and three walks and did not allow a runner to reach third base.

The Florence, Ore., native is tied for the nation’s lead with a 5-0 record this season. He also has a 1.08 earned run average, 37 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings and opponents are batting just .136 against him.

Grenier is the Pac-12 Player of the Week after batting .538 (7-for-13) with a double, home run – the first of his career - and two runs batted in against the Sun Devils. The sophomore tallied a team-best 11 total bases in the series, accumulated an .846 slugging percentage and .538 on-base percentage.

The Henderson, Nev., native is batting .293 on the season. He has one double, four triples, one home run and 12 RBI, starting in all 18 games this season.

The honors are the first of both Thompson and Grenier’s careers.
