Coach Anderson will have easy time telling us the issues as he has been talking this all year - physical play, reduce penalties, and play smart. That was missing from beginning of the 2nd quarter. I am not going to get emotional and call out coaches on play calling as look at the young kid fresh out of high school playing QB. They are keeping it somewhat simple but I do agree (as will the coaches) you can only call QB draw on 3rd down so many times. I still think we will winn more games than most people think and will go to a bowl game.
Penalties - way too many and many just inexcusable. I looked at boxscore and you only see 6 but they really were at least 5 really bad penalties
Special Teams - This was just about as bad as it gets. Kickoffs out of bounds, back breaking penalty at end of 2nd qtr on punt, snap over the head on next try of a punt, face mask penalty, the stupid penalty by Caleb when Michigan kicked out of bounds - this was a video of everything not to do on special teams. Young team fell apart after the snap over the punter.
Lines - I was surprised how are defensive line couldn't stop Michigan after the 1st quarter and how our offensive line just seemed to fall apart. I thought the lines could be the difference in this game for us. Our offensive line needs to get angry and play with some fire. Watching on tv I swear Michigan guard Brayden destroyed our outside LB over and over when he pulled. We were getting zero push on defensive line and it seemed easy for Michigan. We are somewhat lucky Michigan did not have a fast back to go along with Smith as the holes were huge.
QB- we need to stick with Collins as Marcus looked scared back there and didn't move. Putting Marcus in at that point in the game did him no favors. I think we need to give Nick Mitchell some more snaps as we are going to need all 3 qbs this year. We need to look at qb as learning experience this year knowing the positive is guys learn, we have experienced transfer to compete next Falll, and good recruit.
