CORVALLIS – Freshman Kat Tudor set a career-high with 17 points, as the No. 16/24 Oregon State women's basketball team earned a 77-38 win over Southern Utah Saturday evening at Gill Coliseum.

"This was a great win for us," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "We missed some shots in stretches, but overall I think we executed really well. We used three different defenses, which I loved, and we really defended well. We took some big strides tonight. This was a good win for us and I'm really proud of this team."

All five of Tudor's field goals came from 3-point range. Senior Sydney Wiese tallied 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the floor, and added six assists. Redshirt-junior Breanna Brown notched 12 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Taylor Kalmer finished in double-figures for the second-straight game, going for 10 points and two steals.

Junior Marie Gulich went for 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocks, and freshman Mikayla Pivec ended the evening with eight points and nine rebounds. Oregon State out-scored Southern Utah 47-21 in the second half, and shot 42 percent from the floor (29-for-69). The Beavers held a 50-37 advantage in rebounding and limited the Thunderbirds to 22.4 percent shooting (13-for-58).

Wiese provided the Beavers only offense of the first five minutes, as OSU took a 5-2 lead into the first media break. Tudor helped spark Oregon State coming out of the timeout, hitting back-to-back 3-pointers as the Beavers went on an 8-0 run. The OSU defense would lock down the Thunderbirds throughout the opening period, holding Southern Utah to 1-for-16 shooting in the first quarter, as the Beavers took an 18-3 lead.

The Thunderbirds got things going to start the second quarter, scoring the first 10 points of the frame to get back within five. Oregon State would surge in the latter part of the period to take a 30-17 advantage into the intermission.

The Beavers would steadily add to the lead in the third quarter, entering the final 10 minutes ahead 51-30. OSU cruised from there to take the 39-point victory.

Oregon State will remain at home Wednesday, as it hosts its annual Beavers Beyond the Classroom game at 11 a.m. The Beavers will follow that up by heading to Las Vegas to take part in the #Play4Kay Shootout, before returning home to take on Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 27.
