So that title is a bit misleading because as it turns out, Roman Silva is already on campus, enrolled in classes and practicing with the team as of last Friday. Roman and I just got off the phone and covered a lot of ground, I'll post a full story on it Tuesday (Bankston story coming tomorrow), but for now, here are a few quick things that stood out to me.
- As of now, Silva has two years of eligibility starting this year.
- Silva was in the class of 2016 out of high school, signed to play at UTEP, and left after a summer. After he left, he broke his right foot two different times and was in a cast for an entire year. Because of that broken foot, Oregon State is pushing for him to get a third year of eligibility.
- Silva said that because of how patient he and his doctors were, his foot is 100% healed and it gives him no issues at all.
- Silva is very high on the coaching staff at Oregon State and the culture that they have created
- Silva said that a big part of the staff bringing him on was to get a low-post feel. Said he will be able to bring a different dynamic to the team on offense and defense.
- Silva is super excited to be in Corvallis, is being treated great by the team and staff, and says that he is already "getting after it."
