UCLA offers Calipari 50m, whiffs

According to The Athletic, UCLA tried to drop a mint on John Calipari, 48 million for six years plus incentives that pushed the offer over well over 50m. Kentucky responded by signing John to a “contract for life”, at 9 million per year, which I have never heard of, in basketball or any sport.

Suffice to say that the Bruins are determined to get a top coach, and that the cost of doing business just went up all over college basketball. I shudder to think what they’ll offer Bennett when they can talk to him...
