Probably we can all agree that the offensive line, so far, is less than we had hoped. But for those of you who know more about football than me, I have a question: it seems like Baldwin's version of the spread uses much narrower splits than, for example, the Ducks. I get that the offenses have similarities but are not identical, but I wonder if this is done to cover up weaknesses in the line or if it legitimately is the way the offense is designed. It seems to me that wider splits make the d-line defend more of the field, provided that they respect your ability to get to a gap or the edge quickly. Thoughts?
