Offense
The offense put in a very strong showing on day three of spring football practices, building on their performance from day two, especially in the team period portion of practice and one-on-ones.
During the one-on-ones portion of practice today, all the quarterbacks connected with their receivers on what appeared to be almost every single throw. Jailen Holmes was a receiver who stood out today as he used his speed to create separation to catch a ball Gabarri Johnson threw during the one-on-one portion of practice.
When we talked to new wide receivers coach Pat McCann on Thursday, Holmes was someone who McCann raved about. I came away with a similar opinion on Holmes. I was impressed not just with his speed but also his quickness in his route running and his ability to use that speed to create plays in the middle of the field, in addition to the deep passing game.
