LAS VEGAS -- Oregon State commit Mason Moran from Chandler (Ariz.) definitely impressed Saturday night in a loss to Bishop Gorman.

Moran played safety last year and suffered a few shoulder injuries due to his love for contact, and he certainly didn't shy away from the hits Saturday. The lanky quarterback showed a great feel for the zone read and was more than capable with his legs against a disciplined defense. He had a 40-yard touchdown run that was downright pretty -- Moran tucked the ball after baiting the edge rusher, made a cut for his block and then outran the safety with a perfect angle up the middle.

In the throwing department, Moran had some ups and downs. He showed great timing with five-star WR N'Keal Harry, anticipating his breaks and putting the ball in great spots for his big wideout to make plays. But Moran also struggled at times to put the necessary touch on longer throws. He missed a couple open receivers at crucial moments and, on a wheel route, threw up a duck that was intercepted and turned out to be the decider.

Yet despite that late mistake, it's easy to see Moran is the best quarterback in Arizona for the 2016 class and is a natural athlete that will make defenses pay in a variety of ways. He's definitely a good get for the Beavers.
