WEAKSIDE DEFENSIVE ENDS

The Beavers extended offers to 13 different athletes that fall under the WDE label in the Rivals database. With the commitment of Joah Robinett, they seem to be actively recruiting a few more athletes with the hopes of possibly adding one more DE this cycle. Of their remaining targets, there are several that could play either standing up as an OLB or putting a hand down.

COMMIT

JOAH ROBINETT (2* 5.4 Rivals Rating)
Committed 6/9/15 6-7 210 lbs.
San Marcos HS San Marcos, CA

Robinett committed to Coach Andersen and Coach Sitake while on an unofficial to Corvallis in early June. He chose OSU over offers from Nevada and San Diego St., while also receiving interest from Boise St., Colorado St., Oregon, UCLA and Wisconsin. Most of the other schools recruiting Robinett at the time he committed, where projecting him as a TE.

TARGETS

Isaac Garcia (4* #16 WDE #3 in WA)
6-4 225 lbs.
Bellevue HS Bellevue, WA

Garcia had been committed to Southern Cal early on in the process; he committed before his junior year, but decided to open things earlier this summer. Since decommitting, ASU and Cal have moved to the forefront of his recruitment with ASU perhaps holding the edge as he visited Tempe late last month. Despite naming ASU and Cal as his leaders, he does plan on taking all 5 OVs before making his final decision. An OV to Corvallis is in the works this fall, as is an OV to Utah. His fifth OV has yet to be determined but Garcia ultimately sees himself committing to a Pac-12 team. He currently holds offers from Arizona, ASU, Cal, OSU, USC, Utah and Wazzu, with interest from Alabama, Michigan and Notre Dame.

Bryson Young (4* #19 WDE #43 in CA 5.8 RR)
6-5 220 lbs.
Buchanan HS Clovis, CA

Young currently has 10 offers, Arizona St., Cal, Colorado St., Fresno St., Michigan, Oregon, OSU, Tennessee, UCLA and Wazzu. Last month, Young spoke with TheWolverine.com and let them know that he would like to make a decision this fall with Colorado St., Fresno St., UCLA and OSU being heavily involved in his recruitment. Bryson has expressed an interest in majoring in psychology.

Jaquwan Nelson (3* 5.6 Rivals Rating)
Committed to Miami 6-4 230 lbs.
Ft. Lauderdale HS Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Nelson committed to the hometown Hurricanes back in March, but has kept the door open for other programs to show him what they have to offer. He admits to being 100% committed to UM but still plans on taking visits. One of the schools that he plans on visiting is Kentucky where they are pitching the idea of playing both OLB and DE. Nelson would like to take all 5 visits with OSU being another possible destination. Could be just sight seeing.

Fua Pututau (3* #37 WDE #9 in UT)
6-3 231 lbs.
Cottonwood Senior HS Salt Lake City, UT

Pututau lists offers from Boise St., BYU, Colorado, OSU, Utah, Utah St., Washington and Wazzu. He had been planning on making a decision after taking unofficials to Washington, Wazzu, OSU, Boise St., and Nevada this summer, but he will still have a long path in front of him as he plans on serving his LDS mission before enrolling in a university. He could be a package deal with HS teammate Pookie Maka. While listed in the database as a WDE, most schools envision Pututau playing LB in college.

UNCOMMITTED PROSPECTS

Brandon Bowen (4* #3 WDE #50 OVR #6 in TX)
6-5 230 lbs.
Bryon Nelson HS Trophy Club, TX

With over a dozen offers on the table, Bowen is eyeing to make a decision before his season begins. Oklahoma, Texas, TCU, Baylor and Oklahoma State stand out as favorites to Bowen, but with Oregon and Miami being discussed as possible OV destinations they shouldn’t be discredited either.

Connor Murphy (3* #21 WDE #5 in AZ)
6-7 255 lbs.
Brophy Prep Phoenix, AZ

Stanford looks to be the favorite for Murphy as his older brother Trent was an All-American there before being drafted in the 2nd round by the Washington Redskins. In addition to the Cardinal, the 6-7 DE from Arizona lists offers from Arizona, ASU, Boston College, Colorado, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma St., Oregon, OSU, San Diego St., UCLA, USC, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin. Murphy is not in a hurry to make a decision as he plans to be a post-Christmas decision. A top group will more than likely be named by mid-season. Outside of Stanford, Southern Cal, Oregon, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Arizona St. have stood out so far.

Levi Onwuzurike (3* #23 WDE #63 in TX)
6-3 230 lbs.
Allen HS Allen, TX

Earlier this summer, Onwuzurike named a top-10 that did not include the Beavers. His top-10 consisted of Arkansas, Arizona State, Baylor, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Southern Methodist, Texas Christian, Texas Tech, and Washington. Levi intends to again trim his list to a top-5 before his season starts and after taking a few more unofficial visits.

Jachai Polite (3* #36 WDE 5.6 Rivals Rating)
6-4 230 lbs.
Mainland HS Daytona Beach, FL

Polite has an ever-growing offer list and is considered one of the hottest prospects in the sunshine state. Claiming 17 offers, the in-state schools appear to be in the lead, with Florida having some ground to make up in catching Miami. SEC schools Tennessee, South Carolina and Kentucky have also been connected with Polite. He plans on taking some visits this season, but could commit at anytime according to a recent article with InsidetheGators.com.

COMMITTED ELSEWHERE

Rahssan Thornton (3* #30 WDE #83 in TX)
Committed to LSU 6-4 220 lbs.
Shoemaker HS Killeen, TX

Bishop Moore HS Orlando, FL

Charles Callender (3* 5.5 Rivals Rating)

Gulliver Prep Miami, FL

Ezra Cleveland (2* 5.4 Rivals Rating)
