STRONGSIDE DEFENSIVE END

With the number of defensive ends still mentioning OSU in the running for their services, it seems as if they would like to take at least one more this cycle. With Joah Robinett projecting to be a hand-down defensive end, a number of their remaining targets are prospects that could play with a hand in the ground or standing up as an OLB. The Beavs extended 15 offers to athletes that fall within the SDE profile in the Rivals database.

TARGETS

Maxs Tupai (4* #16 SDE #246 OVR #1 in UT)
6-1 245 lbs.
Murray HS Murray, UT

Tupai hasn’t really talked a whole lot about who his favorites are, as there were rumors that he might be a risk academically. It seems that a dedication to the classroom over the summer could change that. USC appears to be one school that has stood out early on for Maxs and the Trojans had success this past cycle landing top flight talent from the beehive state (ie: Porter Gustin and Osa Masina). Tupai plans on getting back in contact with college coaches soon and taking all 5 of his OVs after his season concludes. All in all, Tupai lists 13 offers (Arizona, Colorado, Mississippi St., Oklahoma St., Oregon St., Texas Tech, UCLA, USC, Utah, Utah St., Washington, Washington St., and Wisconsin).

Keaton Bills (3* #16 in UT 5.5 RR)
6-5 250 lbs.
Corner Canyon HS Draper, UT

Bills lists 7 offers from BYU, OSU, Utah, Utah St., Vanderbilt, Washington St., and Weber St. In May, Keaton told UteZone.com that he had a top-4 of Utah, BYU, OSU and Wisconsin. At that time, he was hoping to make a decision before his season starts. I think one of the Utah programs will more than likely gain his commitment.

Jamal Smith (3* 5.5 Rivals Rating)
6-1 253 lbs.
American HS Hialeah, FL

Smith recently named a top-2 of OSU and Pitt but admitted that his top group is somewhat fluid. With 5 other offers from the likes of Bowling Green, Florida Atlantic, Kentucky, North Carolina St., South Florida and Wisconsin, he has options outside of his top group too. A program to watch is Georgia, if they were to offer they would definitely jump into his top group. Currently, Smith hopes to make a decision by the middle of his season.

Tobe Okafor (2* 5.4 Rivals Rating)
6-4 270 lbs.
Central Catholic HS Portland, OR

Despite being listed as DE in the Rivals database, it appears that he is being recruited as an OL for the Beavers, which works out well as TJ Wood is his primary recruiter. Okafor claims offers from all three of the military schools (Army, Air Force, Navy), OSU, BYU, Cal, Holy Cross, Nevada, Wazzu and UC Davis. He recently visited several campuses including OSU, Cal, and UC Davis.

Dante Diaz-Infante (Unrated)
6-2 210 lbs.
Brophy Prep HS Phoenix, AZ

Oregon State was Diaz-Infante’s 1st offer as they extended one a couple days after their satellite camp in June. Hawaii and New Mexico quickly followed suit in offering Dante, with San Diego State, Colorado and Nebraska also initiating contact. Dante plans on taking some visits this fall with OSU being a possible destination and then making a decision after his season. Hawaii figures to be in until the end as Diaz-Infante’s family is close with their LB’s coach, Kurt Gouveia. It seems as if he might be looking for other offers to come in.

LJ Teo (Unrated)
6-2 240 lbs.
Fagaitua HS American Samoa, NA

Teo has just one offer, that being from the Beavs. DL coach Chad Kauha’aha’a is Teo’s lead recruiter and is known for refectively ecruiting players of Samoan descent. Having Samoans Fred Lauina, Rommel Mageo, and Elu Aydon on the roster could help land Teo. Frederick Mauigoa could also be pivotal in Teo’s recruitment as the two of them are friends and Mauigoa commits to OSU, Teo could follow suit.

UNCOMMITTED PROSPECTS

Mykelle McDaniel (3* #70 in GA 5.6 RR)
6-4 255 lbs.
Grayson HS Loganville, GA

McDaniel has accumulated over 30 offers and it is truly a who’s who of the college football world. A decision could be looming for the Grayson HS standout and Florida appears to be on top. Rounding out his top-3 are Nebraska and South Carolina. He intends to make a decision before his senior season begins.
