5 things Brenden learned from practice no. 11 --->

Here are the practice nuggets from BeaversEdge football analyst Marcus Greaves.
-The cornerback position is still thin with depth as Shawn Wilson and Isaiah Dunn both sat out of practice today.
- Darell Garretson took reps with the second team offense today with the departure of Marcus McMaryion. Garretson will be a unique second string QB, the coaches could utilize his running ability as well as his accuracy outside of the pocket.
- Calvin Tyler Jr continues to impress at running back, his vision, low center gravity, and ability to break tackles reminds me a lot of Jacquizz Rodgers. Keep an eye on the kid, he's impressive.
- The defense today brought a lot of pressure from multiple angles. This is a very good sign because it shows that the coaches are confident in the defensive backs to win their 1-on-1 battles which is exactly what you want as a defensive coordinator.
- Christian Wallace was taking reps with the second team defense today. He looked confident in what he was doing and looks like he is making his way up the depth chart.
- The Oregon State offense is now in full go, with finally having a balanced attack with Jake Luton at quarterback and a plethora of running backs it was apparent that they can put some serious points on the board.
- Shemar Smith looks like he is another guy who could be moving up in the depth chart. He is a quicker linebacker, which makes it much easier for him to beat a lineman or tight end and disrupt a play.
- Thoughts on offense: This offense continues to improve everyday, and I think having a QB battle for so long made it very difficult for the offense to run as smooth as they wanted. Now they are able to get that connection between handoffs, timing with passes, and communication with lineman which means this offense is cooking with gas. The only question that will rise is how much the offense will utilize Luton's legs. We have seen OSU's QB at times have more rushing yards than passing. But, with someone like Luton at QB, I would personally take the running option for Luton out of the equation.
- Thoughts on defense: The defense was outplayed by the offense today. Keep in mind though, the defense continues to move guys around, and get some younger guys experience. This is to build depth and confidence for guys who could possibly be in the rotation. Kesi A Hoy is a perfect example. Develop him and give him some playing time and come next year the kid is a veteran. I like what Clune is doing with a defense that has so many young talented players. The defensive line is also improving, they can finally get off blocks and make some plays. Which as we all know is a great sign for the overall defense.
