ACC, Pac-12 Spent Record Amounts on Lawyers in FY24
The ACC and Pac-12 were the primary drivers behind more than $40 million in combined legal fees incurred by the Power Five conferences.

The Atlantic Coast Conference spent $12.3 million on attorneys fees in fiscal year 2024, while the Pac-12 spent $11.8 million—believed to be the highest and second-highest legal expenditures ever recorded by college conferences in a 12-month span.
For the Pac-12, FY24 marked its final year as a 12-member league, ahead of a historic collapse that left only two schools remaining. One of the biggest beneficiaries of this turmoil was the San Francisco office of Cooley LLP, which received $6.2 million.
