As the Pac12, and Oregon State, continue to blow up the recruiting trails, here are the latest from the last two days of recruiting for the Conference of Champions:

  1. Oregon State: (12 Commits | 6th P12 | 48th Nation | 1st in your heart )
    1. Brock Wellsfry, OL - Richmond, WA (3*, 5.5 RR)

NOTES: First off, alphabetical be damned, Oregon State should always be first. Secondly, Brock adds another recruit to a huge area of need. Right now, our 2018 roster for offensive line is 9 players, Including Wellsfry and Kratz. Whatever the consensus is on him, this class needs linemen and Brock is a big body to add to the mix.
  2. Arizona: (19 Commits | 1st P12 | 12th Nation)
    1. Warren Jackson, WR - Mission Hills, CA (3*, 5.5 RR)

NOTES: A few pickups for Rich Rod and hist staff. Warren Jackson fits the mould of the Arizona Receivers being a big body (6'5" and 190 lbs) who can spread the field a bit. Arizona beat out the Beavs and the Buffs for his commitment.
  3. Colorado: (10 Commits | 4th in P12 | 44th Nation)
    1. Maurice Bell, WR - Muriettta, CA (3*, 5.7 RR)

NOTES: Bell is a legit stud. He is fast, runs great routes and has good hands. Colorado stole one as many thought he was going to Arizona. They beat out Arizona, Nebraska, Iowa, Boston College, WSU and Michigan for his services. Big time get by the Buffs.
  4. Excrement Flakes (8 Commits | 5th in P12 | 45th Nation)
    1. Moses Robinson-Carr, TE - Lancaster, CA (3*, 5.7 RR)

NOTES: Robinson-Carr had offers from us, TAMU, Tennessee, USC and Utah. He is a good player who apparently doesn't value his future or obtaining marketable skills that can lead to a good job. In the NFL or life. The only good thing about him going there is that even with him, the Bell commit put Colorado above them in the P12 and the Nation in the most Price is Right method. 1 place. And no, that ass hat school should never be bold.
  5. UCLA: (4 Commits | 11th P12 | 70th Nation)
    1. Ronald Rudd, OT - Rancho Cucamunga, CA (3*, 5.7 RR - JC player)

NOTES: UCLA gets on the board for a positive reason today with the addition of Ronald Rudd. Ronald is a pretty big JC offensive line prospect (literally at 6'7" and figuratively in terms of recruiting service esteem) that saw the Bruins beating out Baylor, Colorado, WSU, Memphis and a whole host of other FBS and FCS offers for his services. It also allows them to look at Stanford and say "At least we aren't you" as Stanford has been at 5 recruits since mid-March.
  6. USC: (10 Commits | 2nd P12 | 24th Nation)
    1. Erik Krommenhoeck, TE - Danville, CA (4*, 5.8 RR)

NOTES: The Krommenhoeck-e-nator has landed in LA and brings a pretty great prospect to the Trojans. With offers from us, UCLA, Arkansas, Colorado and a bunch of other FBS teams. Erik is a big and talented Tight End that will be a good fit for Clay Helton's offense at USC.
  7. Washington State: (8 Commits | | )
    1. Lamonte McDougal, DT - Plantation, FL (3*, 5.6 RR)

NOTES: The Cougars pulled McDougal from Florida amidst offers from P5 schools like Kentucky, Memphis, Purdue, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Miami, Penn State, Syracuse and West Virginia. Lamonte is a solid DT prospect who gives the Cougs a player at every position on their team except Linebacker and Safety.

Additional Notes:
  • One of the negatives for being in the race for 4* and 5* talent is the waiting game that can often happen for players that want to make big splash announcements in the Army All Star game or on signing day. It also opens you up for big time poachers should they find themselves getting close to January and not having all the pieces they want. This is what is happening to Stanford, UCLA and Washington right now. It will be interesting to see how it goes, and I have noticed a trend of players that want to be done before season starts, but they also each want their own day, so scheduling to be Prince of the News Cycle can really drag out recruitments.

  • The P12 is doing a pretty solid job recruiting from top to bottom. I assume Stanford and UCLA will drastically improve over the next five or six months, but OSU, Colorado, Arizona, USC, WSU and Cal are doing a good job brining in some solid talent and getting them to at least commit. Arizona has often been a fast starter, but like us and the rest of the recruiting world, not 19 commits before July fast. That is ridiculous. Who knows what changes will take place but the bottom half of the conference is really pushing to make some noise this year in February.
