I have seen a number of comments on concern about the capabilities of Dave Baldwin and his offense. Not saying those aren't warranted but I a comparison might give some comfort for people.
Dave Baldwin took over OC responsibilities for Colorado State in 2012. During that year they played 4 QB's and finished 105th in total offense. During the first 7 games of that season they went 1 -6 and averaged 15.71 pts per game. During the last 5 games of the season they averaged 28.8 points and went 3 and 2.
In 2013 they settled on Garrett Grayson as QB and finished in the top 15 for total offense. The first 6 games of that season they averaged 30pts and went 2-4. During the last 7 games they went 5 -2 and averaged and averaged almost 47pts per game.
my point being 2 games with freshman quarterbacks in a brand new system does not give us a good vision of a coordinators capabilities. Offensive schemes that may eventually be very effective, could not always look brilliant and could have a lot to do with the players not executing versus the coaching.
This team has a great staff. Probably the best staff from top to bottom they have ever had. They came to build a program KNOWING they had to build a program. Give them at least a season and a half before counting them out.
