Happy (almost) Halloween folks.

With the 10th month of the year coming to a close and the early signing period drawing near, things tend to start getting a bit scary for a little longer than just the 31st of October. By now you probably have an idea of how good the Beavs will be and are seeing the recruiting class take shape with a couple big targets still remaining on the board. What happens over the next eight weeks can be very important.

Fortunately for Oregon State fans, you have a coaching staff who is committed not only to rounding out the 2020 class but also getting a good start on the future.

Hopefully this batch of nuggets will give you an idea of where the Beavs stand for the class of 2020 and beyond.

JUCO MADNESS

Oregon State is very obviously taking the JUCO route for their 2020 defensive backs. Rejzon Wright, Alton Julian, Khyree Jackson, Je'Quari Godfrey and Ronald Williams all have committable offers from the Beavs, and I would imagine they are aiming to land three.

As you all know, Alton Julian announced via twitter that he has “something to say” on Halloween.

Julian recently decommitted from Colorado just a few short days after officially visiting Oregon State alongside JUCO defensive backs Rejzohn Wright and newest Beaver commit Ronald Hardge III. The three have developed a strong bond and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see all three commit to Oregon State.

Stay tuned tomorrow for whatever his announcement could be. Barring a surprise, my FutureCast for Julian to Oregon State will remain.

As for Rejzohn, he stays pretty quiet but it is no secret that Oregon State is the favorites here. With his brother Nahshon Wright playing his first season in Corvallis and the relationships he has built with the coaches and other targets, I would consider him a Beaver lean but he is hearing from other schools.

2020 CCSF cornerback Je’Quari Godfrey picked up an offer last week. I know some of you have the feeling that he is somewhat of a backup plan and I have to admit I got the same vibe, but that could be good and bad.

It is good because there is another solid cornerback with college experience (USC) that is interested in the Beavs.

It is bad because a plan B means plan A did not go as expected, but hopefully that will not be the case.

Either way, Godfrey is a really good and fast player who I think Oregon State would take right now if he was ready.

Luke Haggard remains impossible to get in touch with, but I do know that he has been on campus at Oregon State more than once this season.

I would not be surprised to see him land at Oregon State, but Nevada, San Jose State and Fresno State are also in the mix.

THE HUTCHINSON TRIO

This is the biggest longshot of the bunch. Williams hasn’t really reciprocated any of the interest shown to him from the Beavs and is taking visits to other schools. When talking with his teammates Latrell Bankston and Kirmari Gainous, there is never a mention of Williams.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for that to change.

I recently caught up with Kirmari and if you missed that story, you can find it here. As for Bankston, there is good and bad.

The Good: Coach Tibs continues to stay on both Bankston and Gainous hard, and a return visit for Bankston alongside Gainous, who would be on an official, seems very possible.

The Bad: Kansas State won big on the football field when they took down top-ranked Oklahoma, but might have won even bigger off the field as Latrell Bankston was in attendance on an official visit.

From our Kansas State site:

“That was probably the craziest football experience I’ve been a part of since I came back from a 35-7 deficit in a high school playoff game,” Bankston said following his time on campus. “The fans and the team were just loud and crazy, and it was amazing.”

Just like Oregon State, Bankston is a priority for Kansas State so this one is going to come down to the wire. Bankston has a really strong relationship not only with Oregon State coaches but commits and players as well, so I still give the Beavs a slight advantage.

Reminder that recruiting is a crazy game, however, and a lot more unpredictable things have happened.

DECISION NEARING FOR JAKE OVERMAN

Longtime 2020 tight end target Jake Overman will take his long awaited official visit to Washington this weekend after having to reschedule earlier this season.

This one has the looks of a two horse race between Oregon State and Washington, and this weekend will be really telling. Overman himself never even expected to wait this long to commit, but has stayed level-headed throughout the process and wants to make sure he makes the best choice.

My gut feeling here is kind of weird. I think Overman LOVES Oregon State, the coaching staff and the city of Corvallis, but Washington getting his final official is massive for them and could sway Overman into choosing the Huskies.

We will see how it plays out and hopefully we will know something sooner than later following his visit.

MALONE DECOMMITS FROM FRESNO STATE

Malone’s decommitment came as a bit of a surprise to me at least, as he had been committed since May. Oregon State and Fresno State are the only two schools he is really considering, so he may be having a last second change of heart.

Coach Blue has stayed in touch with him throughout the process and the two have a great relationship. We have Malone pegged for an official visit for the Washington game.

I’ll try to get back on the phone with him today to see what’s up.

STARTING EARLY

There are multiple 2021, 2022 and 2023 targets who are receiving interest from Oregon State. Because I maxed out the amount of profiles I can put in a board post, I’ll give you a little rundown on some of the guys and link their profile beneath it.

2021 RB Damir Collins - Top in-state player, recently visited and has a really good relationship with coach Pitre. Has offers from Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Washington State, others. Recent story on him here.

PROFILE:

2022 ATH Darrius Clemons - Another in-state guy who visited for the Oklahoma State game. Really good kid who I think will blow up before his recruitment is over, but the Beavs are doing a great job developing a strong relationship early. Currently has other offers from Oregon, Michigan State, BYU, Utah State and others.

PROFILE:

2022 RB Jovantae Barnes - Recently added an Oregon State offer. Barnes is already blowing up, boasting offers from Georgia, Tennessee, USC, Miami and more.

PROFILE:

2023 ATH Zachariah Branch - Recently added an Oregon State offer. From football factory Bishop Gorman. Already has offers from Auburn, Georgia, Utah and more.

PROFILE:

2023 RB Rueben Owens - Recently added an Oregon State offer. Texas native who is drawing early interest from the Longhorns and Texas A&M. Has picked up offers from Oregon State, Arkansas and LSU.

2023 WR Rashid Williams - Recently added his first offer from Oregon State. The kid is already six feet tall and is a freshman in high school, so it will be fun to watch him as he gets older.
