• Women’s Basketball’s Mikayla Pivec is one of two NCAA student-athletes to be recognized as “PlayMaker of the Month” by the The Institute For Sport & Social Justice for her academic achievements and community service outreach.
ACADEMICS
December student-athletes of the month are men’s basketball player Zach Reichle (Wilsonville), women’s basketball player Jenessa Thropay (Chino, Cal.), and from cross country Greta Van Calcar (Palisade, Colo.). Reichle is majoring in business administration, owns a 3.94 cumulative GPA and was a Pac-12 Academic team member last year. Thorpay is a speech communication major with a 3.78 GPA and is a two-time Pac-12 Academic team selection. Van Calcar is a renewable materials major with a 3.32 cumulative GPA.
FOOTBALL
• The first national signing day for football is Dec. 18-20. The secondary signing day begins Feb. 5.
• As of December 4, the roster for the 2020 season includes players who have combined for 278 starts at the Football Bowl Subdivision level.
• OSU and USC led the Pac-12 with forty-one different starters in 2019.
• The team improved by three victories from the 2018 season – the best jump in the Pac-12.
• The offense generated 31.2 points per game this season; the second-best mark in school history for a 12-game season.
• The defense improved in nearly every statistical category, including allowing over 13 points per game fewer, nearly 100 yards per game less, and 158 points fewer than 2018 – second-biggest one season improvement in program history.
• The team set a school record for yards per play at 6.0.
• The offense allowed 25 quarterback sacks this season; down from 48 a year ago.
• OSU led the country for fewest turnovers with six and those six turned into only 14 points for the opposition.
• Avery Roberts (Wilmington, Del.,), Omar Speights(Philadelphia), and Hamilcar Rashed, Jr. (Phoenix) represented 25 percent of the team’s total tackles; all three return for next season.
• Rashed Jr., broke the school record, while being restricted the last two games with a broken wrist, for tackles-for-loss (22.5) and sacks (14). He currently is the national leaders for TFLs.
• The defense accumulated 32 sacks, the most by a Beaver team since 2008. The team returns players who accounted for 31 of those 32 sacks.
• Next season’s schedule includes seven home gamesfor the first time since 2016 with specific dates for conference games to be announced in the near future.

• The team’s next scheduled game is for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Gill Coliseum. It will be televised on Pac-12 Network.
• At 7-1, the Beavers have equaled their best record through eight games since 1980-81. The 1984-85 and 1986-87 teams also started 7-1.
• Oregon State leads the Pac-12 and is seventh in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (1.56).
• Kylor Kelly (Gervais) leads the Pa-12 and is second in the nation in blocked shots per game (4.50.).
• Tres Tinkle (Missoula, Mont.) is the only Pac-12 player in the top five in in the league in scoring (third, 21.4), rebounding (third, 8.6) and assists (fifth, 4.9). Tinkle leads the conference in assist/turnover ratio (2.79).
• Ethan Thompson (Los Angeles) has scored in double figures in seven of the eight games. He had a season-high 18 points in the win over Portland State.
