Seeing another top West-coast QB recruit in 4* Devon Modster about to sign with either UCLA or less likely Arizona got me scouring the web for quality QB's we could sign. It's become clear to me we need to lock up a couple quality QB's ASAP. As am sure many of you know, there are two right here in Portland.
At the The first-ever Rivals Quarterback Challenge or LA: QB Challenge both Oregonians were considered 2 of the 3 best performers.
1) Connor Neville (DQB) is only a Junior next year but he was the TOP PERFORMER at the camp (compared to 4* Modster and the Countries 7th best PQB. He came in 7th at the camp). If you're a Dual threat fan then you'll love his film. While it would be great if he was a senior after watching his film I would have to say lock him up now before he gets on everyones radar.
Camp Notes:
Recruiting wrap: Neville is brand new to the recruiting process but has been hearing from Oregon State and others early on.
Performance: Neville was fantastic in almost every drill and performed with strep throat, which says something about his competitive spirit. The 2017 prospect threw great on the run, has excellent feet, was especially accurate rolling to his right and picked things up faster than any quarterback. After just a few reps at every station, he got in a great rhythm. He was also around the deep-ball target more than most others.
3) Sam Noyer (PQB) [/B]will be a Senior at Beaverton and is currently considered the 4th best player in the state. He's visited Corvallis several times and supposedly the coaches like him, they say they need to see him throw which is what he did pretty well at the Camp especially when compared to other top QB's.
Camp Notes:
Recruiting wrap: Oregon State, Arizona State and Washington State are involved early in the process.
Performance: Noyer was really smooth in pretty much everything he did. He didn't rush any throws, but did everything with a great tempo and pace. In every drill, every station and throughout the entire camp, Noyer looked really comfortable in the setting and was really smooth. The Beaverton standout also showed off great footwork.
There seems to be genuine interest on both of these kids part in Oregon State. I'd sure like to see a full court pressed put on signing some clearly talented homegrown QB talent before Washington, California or Arizona schools come calling.
