Sherwood (Ore.) safety David Morris has been a longtime Oregon State commit that is being pursued by a new school. The Utah Utes offered him on Thursday.
"Utah visiting me on Thursday," Morris said. "Coach Anderson is coming to my house for a in home visit on Friday."
Utah is visiting Morris at school; it is not for an in-home visit. However, they're starting to push much harder, and I imagine they'll be coming by for an in-home visit before the month is over.
He noted that at the moment his commitment to Oregon State has not changed. As of Wednesday night, Morris does not intend on taking an official visit to Utah, but now that they have offered him, who knows, that could change.
Morris confirmed with me that he is set to play safety for Oregon State rather than outside linebacker.
"I'm very excited. I've been playing that position the past three years," Morris said. "I feel more comfortable with that position."
When Derrick Odum left Oregon State, Morris was happy for his new opportunity, but was a little disappointed that he wouldn't be able to play for Odum at OSU. However, Morris connected with new safeties coach John Rushing right away.
"Coach Rushing and coach Clune from OSU came by my house for a visit," he said. "I really like the guy. He's very genuine, knows what he's doing, loves the game, and I love what he's about.
"It was good. I was a little nervous about [being able to connect with Rushing right away], but we were even better after the visit. I can't wait to start working with him."
