I am now taking signups for the Michigan trip I am putting together. Below is all the information I currently have and I will update this as more information becomes finalized. Please sign up with me as soon as possible if you would like to go. The sooner I get commitments from people the easier it makes the planning.
AIRFARE
I have not arranged any group flights, so you are on your own for this. I would get this booked as soon as possible before airfares get too high. There will be a lot of people trying to get from Oregon to Michigan that week.
HOTEL
You can now make your reservations at the Greektown Casino and Hotel in Detroit. There are a number of bars and restaurants in the Greektown area along with the casino in our hotel. Ford Field and Comerica Park are also both within walking distance from the hotel. Room rates are as follows. Wed/Thu/Sun $149 night & Fri/Sat $160 night.
Included in the rate is free valet or self parking, free wifi, complimentary access to the fitness room and two breakfast vouchers for every night you stay.
You can book your rooms by calling 877-424-5554 and mention the group code "ORSVSMI" or by going online and booking using the following weblink; https://gc.synxis.com/rez.aspx?Hotel=23374&Chain=9056&group=ORSVSMI
TAILGATER
I have a spot secured at the Ann Arbor Golf & Outing, which is right across the street from the Big House. This will be a 3-1/2 hour, private, first class tailgater. The start time and menu will be decided once kickoff time is set. It will be an all you can eat and drink tailgater. If it is an early game we will have a breakfast theme; eggs, waffles, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy and fruit. If it is a later kickoff we will be eating chicken, beef and pork along with three types of salads, rolls and cookies. The beverage service will include; water, soda, beer, wine, and a cocktail bar. The tailgater area will be on two full size tennis courts. We will have a tent covering part of the area so you can choose to sit under cover or out in the sun. We will also have corn hole games and ladder ball games to play, plus a couple of TV's set up to watch other football games along with some pregame music in the background. The plan is to open the tailgater back up for about an hour after the game to let traffic clear out, but more importantly, celebrate a Beaver victory. In addition to this we will be including a one of a kind "Beavers in the Big House" t-shirt to commemorate the game and tailgater. The cost of the tailgater will be $75 per person. Kids are welcome at the tailgater and if they are younger kids, we will come up with a different price for them. If the numbers get large enough I might be able to lower the price a little bit. I will not be taking any walk up admissions to the tailgater on the day of the game, you will need to be signed up and paid before the tailgater.
BUS TRANSPORTATION
Buses will be leaving the Greektown hotel an hour before the tailgater starts and will be dropping us off at the tailgater location. After the post game celebration the buses will pick us back up and bring us back to the Greektown hotel. Beverages will be provided on the trip and the roundtrip cost is $25 per person. The bus transportation is only offered to those people who are attending the tailgater. If you are be going to be driving your own car to the game/tailgater, there is parking available at the Ann Arbor Golf & Outing. The parking charge is $50 per car.
GAME TICKETS
Single game tickets have not went on sale yet or prices determined. The best guess is about $75 per ticket. You can get your own game tickets, or if you would like me to, I can secure tickets for you. Like the bus transportation, I am only going to secure game tickets for those people attending the tailgater.
FRIDAY NIGHT EVENT
I will be setting up some type of no host get together Friday night either at our hotel or at another spot in the Greektown area early in the evening on September 11th.
In my mind, the Beavers playing at Michigan Stadium is definitely one of those once in a lifetime deals. I know I am really pumped about heading to Michigan in September.
If you would like to sign up or have any questions please e-mail me at gascho@canby.com and I will be more than happy to help you out. Feel free to pass the trip information on to anyone you know that would like to go.
