The 2023 college football season gets underway next week, and Oregon State's only season gets underway in less than two weeks. That also means that the August dead period is nearly over. With recruiting news about to pick up again in just a few days, BeaversEdge takes a look at each position group for Oregon State so far in the 2024 recruiting class and what to expect going forward.

Quarterback

Oregon State does not hold a quarterback commitment so far in their 2024 recruiting class. We've talked about this issue quite a bit over the last few months, but at the core, the key thing to know about the Beaver's efforts at quarterback is their not terribly worried, at least from what we're hearing. Yes, you'd love to land another high-end quarterback in this year's cycle, but after picking up Aidan Chiles in last year's cycle, the need to hit a home run in this cycle is certainly lessened. If they don't find a quarterback they love in the cycle, they'll likely look toward the transfer portal.

Running Back

The Beavers, with Makhi Frazier and Brandon Tullis in the class, are done at the running back position, barring some sort of surprise. The coaching staff is ecstatic with the duo they were able to land in this cycle.

Wide Receiver

The Beavers have a pair of wide receivers committed to the program in the 2024 recruiting cycle. After taking five in last year's cycle, the Beavers would probably feel comfortable with singing just two, but adding one more to the position shouldn't be ruled out.

TIGHT ENDS

Cupertino (CA) tight end Wyatt Hook has been the longest-standing member of the class, committing back in December. The Beavers have shown interest in adding other tight ends, but at this point in time, it seems unlikely they add another to the class unless someone really impresses them this fall.

OFFENSIVE LINE

Five offensive linemen are committed in this year's class so far for the Beavers. We expect the Beavers to look to take potentially one more with North Medford's Terrell Kim, someone we're keeping an especially close eye on.

DEFENSIVE LINE

The Beavers only have one defensive line commitment so far in this cycle, though there is a chance Dexter Foster could slide down to defensive end at some point in the future. Either way, expect the Beavers to look to add at least one more at the position via this cycle, and it should also be a point of emphasis in the transfer portal as well. Damarrion White, Kevin Johnson, and Ellas Williams are all names to keep an eye on. Defensive tackle, however, is a much bigger question in this cycle.

SECONDARY

With a pair of defensive backs in the class in Exodus Ayers and Andrew Brinson, the Beavers will look to add more to their cornerback room in this cycle. Players to watch include Faletau Satuala and Marquawn McCraney. Other options will likely emerge over the next few months as well.
