San Bernardino (Calif) San Gorgonio athlete and Oregon State commit Kaleb Hayes will experience Corvallis for the first time this weekend as he's coming in for his official visit.

The three-star 6-foot, 160-pound talented athlete spoke to BeaversEdge.com about what he's looking forward to about his visit.

"I'm looking to see what's going on over there since that will be my first trip there," Hayes said. "I want to get to know the coaches and players."

Hayes has been able to form a close relationship with his future position coach Cory Hall.

"He calls me every week. It's been nice. I know what his plans are for me. It will be a new feeling for me to play DB. He's really trying to make me feel like family and really trust him. Our relationship is going really well."

Hayes will get a much better feel for Oregon State this weekend, and he's been committed to the Beavers for several months.

"I feel like I've made the right decision in going to Oregon State," said Hayes. "They're telling me some great things and seeing how they did this year, the program is building to become great."

Hayes is an underrated recruit that is starting to catch eyes of some schools. He played quarterback in high school, and New Mexico offered him to play quarterback, which is an intriguing option for him.

"It is. I think about it, but it's more about what I'm going to do in the future," Hayes explained. "Life isn't all about football. I have to see what the better degree is and everything. That's why I'm taking some visits."

Hayes is committed to Oregon State as a cornerback, and BYU likes him at cornerback as well. They have an offer on the table for Hayes, and he is set to visit BYU on January 20.

"They have a strict policy rule. I'm going to go see them, but Oregon State is my No. 1, and I feel strong about it," said Hayes.

BYU, New Mexico, and Oregon State are the schools coming after Hayes the hardest and are the schools he's looking at. He seems pretty firm with Oregon State, and I don't expect him to flip elsewhere.

He completed 117-of-227 passes for 2,097 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions his senior season. Hayes carried the ball 168 times for 1,430 yards and 18 touchdowns.
