Basketball Goodman Joins USA 3x3 Squad for FIBA Event

CORVALLIS – Oregon State guard Aleah Goodman will represent the USA at the first stop in the inaugural FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series from May 31-June 1 in Chengdu, China.

Goodman, who recently competed at USA Basketball 3x3 Nationals in Las Vegas, will be joined on the squad by Bella Alarie (Princeton), Charli Collier (Texas), and Christyn Williams (Connecticut). The USA squad will be in Pool A to open the event, and will tip things off Friday at 1:30 a.m. PT vs. France. A full schedule is listed below.

The team was selected by the USA Basketball 3x3 National Team Selection Committee, which is comprised of USA Basketball Women’s National Team director Carol Callan, USA Basketball Youth & Sport Development director Jay Demings, USA Basketball Men’s National Team assistant director Samson Kayode, 2008 Olympic gold medalist and USA 3x3 team consultant Kara Lawson and 1997 USA Basketball National Coach of the Year Mo McHone, who has served on numerous USA Basketball coaching staffs from 1998-2018 and has coached in the NBA, NBA G League, Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and internationally in South Korea.

Goodman had an outstanding sophomore season for the Beavers, averaging 10.7 points per game, on her way to Pac-12 Sixth Player of the Year honors. The sophomore scored in double-figures 17 times, and earned ESPNW National Player of the Week honors on Feb. 25.

Goodman finished the 2018-19 campaign 46th in the nation in 3-point percentage at 39.4 percent, and averaged nearly 12 points per game in conference play. The guard was also named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention.

As a team, the Beavers finished the 2018-19 season with a record of 26-8, one of the top-five records in program history. Oregon State made its fourth consecutive Sweet 16, and earned an NCAA Tournament berth for the sixth-straight year.
