The state of Oregon had four prospects in the 2017 class that were ranked as four star prospects. In the class of 2018, that number currently sits at seven.

One of those prospects is Wilsonville's Draco Bynum, who Rivals.com rates as the No. 15 strongside defensive end in the nation.

Bynum informed BeaversEdge.com that he is most likely going to visit Oregon State this weekend for their spring game, which OSU is also using as their junior day weekend.

"I talk to their coaches at least every other day," Bynum said. "We talk pretty frequently."

Bynum usually keeps in touch with Jake Cookus, a quality control analyst for the Beavers.

"He's the main guy that I've talked to," Bynum said. "We've known each other for a couple of years now. I met him either my freshman or sophomore year when I came up for a camp. We've kind of developed a working relationship, and I think he's a great guy."

Wilsonville is about an hour and some change from Corvallis, which is something that he likes about Oregon State. Another big reason for his interest in the Beavers is the fact that he's an OSU legacy.

"Yeah that's a pretty big part," Bynum said about OSU being an in-state school. "Also, my mom is an Oregon State alum. She played basketball on a full ride there."

Bynum noted that his mom is excited that he holds an offer from the Beavs, but she isn't pushing him hard towards Corvallis. He does see Oregon State apparel quite often though.

"I own a thousand Oregon State shirts," he said with a laugh.

Bynum is also being recruited by the Beavers biggest rival, the Oregon Ducks. He is visiting UO on Wednesday.

"I'm really excited to see how Willie Taggart handles his first year," Bynum said. "I've talked to him and the whole staff pretty frequently. It seems they're on the brink of something big. I'm excited to get to know them better. I'm excited to see how things have changed."

Who does Bynum root for in the Civil War?

"I was actually playing in the state championship during the Civil War [in 2016], but if I would've been watching it, I would have been rooting for the Beavers," Bynum answered.

Bynum hopes to take additional visits sometime this spring to Stanford, Nebraska, USC, UCLA, and Cal.
