I watched the condensed replay on TV, and I can now see what you folks were talking about w.r.t. the running game and the D giving up ridiculous chunk plays, often on 3rd & long. I have a few thoughts...
This 3rd & long thing has been going on for a while. I have to think that we play too damn soft on that down n distance and we get burned. There are huge holes in the secondary as well as rushers not getting home. They don't break down and tackle and their ankles are getting broken all over the place. I am hoping that it looked so bad because Football in 60 cuts out the drives that are inconsequential, so I was watching only the UH drives that went well.
Nolan looks so much more comfortable than last year. The game has slowed down and he looks like a dude out there. I am excited to see how much better he can get.
I owe BJ Baylor an apology...and a beer when the season is over. He looks really good.
We need to get better. We will get better. Let's thrash Idaho.
