Hey Edgers! Hope everyone is doing well and staying cool!

@tjmathewson was at Oregon State's 11th practice today and has the inside scoop!

Here is the interview with head coach Jonathan Smith

We are officially less than three weeks until kickoff, and the second half of the four-week fall camps continued on a smoggy hot day at the Prothro practice fields. Here’s everything that happened.
  • Aidan Chiles suited up but did not participate in practice. Jonathan Smith mentioned that Chiles was dealing with a little bit of soreness in his arm, but should be good to go later this week. We saw a lot of extra reps for Travis Throckmorton and Dom Montiel in his spot.
  • Jonathan Smith said that there still isn’t much separation in the QB battle, and will hold off on making a decision for the time being.
  • The first-team OL was on a pitch count as well, especially for Taliese Fuaga and Joshua Gray. As you’ll notice with the depth chart today, there was a lot of mixing between the first/second/third teams. Didn't see Gray go live today...
  • There wasn’t as much load management on the defensive side. The DL really got after the quarterback today. Drew Chatfield put the most on the stat sheet, notching a sack from each side of the LOS with some really nice speed and bend. Youngsters Takari Hickle and Thomas Collins continue to make lots of noise, as Smith mentioned after. Quincy Wright got in on the action with a strip sack of his own.
  • The play of the day came between Anthony Gould and DJ. The junior quarterback sat back in the pocket off of play-action and threw a high-arcing missile downfield to Gould, who cooked Jaden Robinson by 10 yards, for a 70-yard touchdown. Jaden, despite a couple of tough reps, redeemed himself later on, swatting a pass away from Rweha Munyagi Jr. that he nearly intercepted.
  • Today was the first day by my count that we really saw Anthony Gould stand out. He had another really nice catch over his should on a corner route from Ben that was a little underthrown. Gould, heading toward the right sideline, still tracked the ball over his left shoulder to make a toe-dragging catch on the sideline. Gould was fired up after that.
  • Jimmy Valsin had a pretty catch of his own from Ben. With freshman Andre Jordan draped all over him, Valsin skied into the air on a sideline route and came down with the football. Jonathan Smith said the 4th/5th/6th WR spots are all wide open and catches like that are certainly going to help Valsin earn one of those spots.
  • Freshman OLB Zakaih Saez found himself on the good end of some batted ball luck, an overthrown and tipped Travis Throckmorton pass found its way into his arms.
  • I don’t think the kickers (Atticus Sappington and Everett Hayes) missed a single kick today. They kicked from as long as 48 yards.
