Coach Andersen met with the press today. Here are the notes.

Lots to learn from this last game and we'll learn a lot from it. We couldn't stop the run and we couldn't establish the run. San Jose St will want to run the ball and will play aggressive defense. Good speed at the WR & CB. It will be a big challenge.

Q: Corrections that saw: We had 22 missed tackles in the second half. Physicality of their back was big. Need to keep the edges contained. Offensively there were so many plays that were so close. But we need to be able to execute it. Many opportunities for us as coaches to teach and communicate with a very young team. Won't be an excuse, we need to coach them better and try to replicate what they will see. This team played their tails off and no one who watched that film could turn it off and say that OSU gave up.

A lot to learn from the positives too. The first half. When things went badly quickly, they didn't give up. Second half we couldn't move the ball offensively and the defense had time to get a quick drink and they were back on the field and that is where Michigan wants you.

Need to continue to evaluate each player and play and come up with what they each do best. It isn't broke. What we do is the right thing, it is a process. We ran into some adversity and we'll keep working.

Special teams, which was so good a week ago, was not good this week. We had five penalties, but we hurt ourselves. Why were we like that? That is the first time I've seen our snapper have anything close to anything like that. In the game I told Ryan to shake it off and relax. There will be some guys moving around to help get them in the right spot.

Long snapping is a highly refined skill. It is repetition. We expect him to be a pro at it, he will continue to get better. No one hurts more than him, I can guarantee you that.

Once they felt they were gaining an advantage in the power run game, they amped it up. They ran a lot of it in the first and second quarter, and we saw more in the second half, run out the clock. That is good coaching.

We will take a look at more 4 DL when teams go big (two tights, two backs). We want to get the best personnel on the field.

Rommel: He's been physical, tough kid and his development and communication skills and study habits, I would bet he's watching film right now to get himself ready on his day off. He's playing at a high level, and I expect him to get better and better.

San Jose St. We'll need to stop the run and watch for trick plays and then he'll take some shots. Offensively for us, we need to execute.

Seth is the starter, and if the opportunity presents itself, we hope to get Marcus some snaps.

The loss to Michigan will help a lot of players. To go into that environment, things aren't going to get much tougher than that, and they did some things well. Mitchell played as good of a game as I've seen a center play in a long time.

Seth: Cleaner reads and ran smarter. When he was getting tackles, they were tackles, but not big shots. And he threw some nice balls.

Going for it: Percentage football, but if they didn't get the first down, Michigan would have good field position and have time to at least get a field goal.

Need to get Storm to be where he needs to be. When a young man has any doubt about playing, but he is still getting himself back. He will probably say that he's 100%, but I want him to be completely ready. After the half, he came up to me and said that he felt good and was ready to go.

Linebacker depth. Policy for us to have Dr. Auckerman be in charge of the injuries. We were banged up. Couple kids didn't make the trip because they were banged up. Need to get those LB's healthy. (pretty much answers questions re: Storm & Bright...as both are battling to get back to 100%)
