Honolulu -- Wahiawa (Hawaii) Leilehua safety Charles Watson recently announced that he would not be taking a January official visit to Vanderbilt and that his final two options were BYU and Oregon State.
Watson will announce his commitment this Saturday during the Polynesian Bowl, which begins at 9pm PT and can be seen on ESPN3.
"They're both really good schools and have really good coaching staffs," Watson said. about BYU and OSU. "It just comes down to me praying on it and sleeping on it. I don't mind playing for either school, so it's just how I feel in the morning on gameday."
Watson took his Oregon State official visit way back in September for the weekend of the Boise State game. He enjoyed his weekend in Corvallis.
"It was cool. That was my first D1 visit, so I got to see real division one guys and see what they looked like," he said. "It was a nice place; I thought Corvallis was beautiful. It was cool seeing division one facilities and everything."
The three-star recruit visited BYU back in November.
"It was nice. I have a bunch of family down the street from BYU," he said. "That's a big factor."
What will the decision making process be like for Watson?
"I'm thinking about family," said Watson. "I have family close to Oregon State and family right down the street from BYU. That's what I'm thinking about process-wise. I'd like to play in front of family and all of that stuff. Other than that, it's about who keeps in contact with me and who shows more interest."
- Oregon State's coach Chad K is recruiting Watson, and they had an in-home visit five days ago. From BYU, he's being recruited by several different coaches.
- Oregon State likes him at safety, while BYU likes him at cornerback. Watson has no preference on either position.
