Boy it's been beautiful in Corvallis these past couple days. I got a chance to watch practice for a while a couple times and luckily for me Casey had the team intersquad both days. Hard to tell who people really were because they used old game jerseys to separate the teams and numbers weren't the same.

Morrison got some time at 3B which I was surprised to see. I think having his glove somewhere is a must and his bat was coming along nicely parts of last season. Will be interesting to see how the infield shapes up with so many capable bodies both young and old.

Ice looks like he may have added a little pop to his toss down to 2b, could be mistaken but looked very quick and on a downward angle straight to the bag. Will be watching who gets the majority of time behind the dish between him and KJ who shared time both days.

Watched Drew Rasmussen throw today and he looks like he's in mid-season form. Fastball looked like it was in the upper 90's since I haven't seen a live pitch in forever (so probably 92-93) and his off speed was low and seriously fooled the majority of hitters, including KJ once (he did have a great ab later fouling off a few pitches and earning a walk) Granted arms are usually well ahead of bats at this point in the "spring" but still was nice to see him popping the mit and moving well low and in and out.

Also saw Jake Thompson on the mound and he looks good too, believe he was probably around 90-91 Got touched up a little in his 3rd inning of work for a couple hits but was locating well and staying low in the zone. Excited to have him back on the bump.

Finally got a glimpse of who I think was Nick Madrigal and boy does he have an awful lot of talent in his small-ish frame. Kid can do it all from what I saw, quick glove at SS, got a great push bunt down for a bay-hee, and then absolutely roped a ball to CF that couldn't have gotten more than 20ft up in the air, was caught...but still. Kid is going to be something special...good wheels too. Love his load at the plate, big leg kick and man does the kid swing the bat.

Saw a lefty who was pretty impressive too, seemed to be popping the mit well and guys had an awful time getting any solid contact. I think the guys were calling him J.B. maybe?? Quality arm from what I saw and even better that it's from the left side.

Also, the new scoreboard was up and running and boy is it beautiful. Basic layout that I think they'll use is live video in the middle and then both lineups on the sides (it's about a 50/50 split so video is half the screen in the center). Offense is the line up, obviously, and then the defensive team has a graphic of the field with each player's name at their position I believe. As for the annoying ads...there was one each, in the bottom left and bottom right corners, hardly noticeable at all.

Can't wait to get this season going. 22 days and counting until Surprise, Arizona turns Orange.
