Baseball Adley Rutschman Named A Buster Posey Award Finalist

WICHITA, Kansas – Oregon State junior Adley Rutschman is one of three finalists for the Buster Posey Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate catcher.

Rutschman, a native of Sherwood, Ore., finished his junior season with a .989 fielding percentage. He saw 27 runners attempt to steal against him, and was able to throw out 13, a .481 percentage. He committed four passed balls, with just one coming over the last 19 games of the season.

Other finalists include Georgia Tech’s Kyle McCann and UC Santa Barbara’s Eric Yang.

The Buster Posey Award was formally named the Johnny Bench Award, with the name change coming during the 2019 season. The winner will be unveiled at the 22nd Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 27.
