Oregon State has made it known that they will recruit both high schoolers and JUCO players at a high level throughout the offseason, and a big portrayal of that was the commitment of Mesa CC defensive end Alex Lemon.

Lemon was at one time committed to Arizona State because of the relationships that he had with the coaching staff, but as time revealed that ASU wasn't the place for him, it also brought a new school into light - Oregon State University.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Lemon while he was committed to Arizona State, when he was uncommitted, and now again as a future Beaver. I can confidently say that despite the attention that he does get from other schools, Lemon seems more comfortable and committed to Oregon State than any other time we have spoken.

QUICK NOTES:

- Lemon plans on majoring in Music Education. Not something I feel is very common for athletes but very cool nonetheless.
- Lemon wants to enroll early, but ultimately it will be dependent on whether or not his school has a winter intersession.
- Lemon never visited Auburn or anywhere else since his commitment.
- Lemon says he is 100% committed to Oregon State.

Below is some dialogue from our conversation, including a little teaser about what (or who) could come next in today's edition of a conversation with the commits.

BeaversEdge: How has everything been since your commitment?
Lemon: Everything has been really good. I am just trying to enjoy everything as much as I can.

BeaversEdge: What has your summer consisted of?
Lemon: Summer workouts with my team, two-a-days, and regular practices. I really want to get better at using my hands and not relying on my strength so much.

BeaversEdge: How has your relationship been with the coaches?
Lemon: I really just talk to coach Tibs and coach Smith a lot.

BeaversEdge: You were previously committed to Arizona State, how does this commitment feel different from that one?
Lemon: I feel more comfortable. The environment in Corvallis is great, I love the campus and community and I really just kinda fell in love with the school.

BeaversEdge: Have you been hearing from other schools since your commitment?
Lemon: Other schools have been a little bit but I don't really listen to it.

BeaversEdge: Are there any players you want to join you?
Lemon: All I can say is BTD '20, y'all are in for some surprises.
