CORVALLIS – Oregon State will open the 2017 football season with a pair of home games for the first time since 2013 when it hosts the Portland State Vikings Sept. 2 followed by Minnesota Golden Gophers Sept. 9, the Pac-12 Conference announced Wednesday.
The six-game home schedule also includes home dates with Washington Sept. 30, Colorado Oct. 14, Stanford Oct. 26 (Thursday) and Arizona State Nov. 18. Road games include trips to Washington State Sept. 16, Colorado State Sept. 23, USC Oct. 7, California Nov. 4, Arizona Nov. 11, and Oregon Nov 24 (Friday). In addition OSU officials announced that Homecoming/OSU150 Celebration will be Oct. 14 and Fall Family Weekend, formerly known as Dad’s Weekend, will be Nov. 18.
The Beavers, with third-year head coach Gary Andersen at the helm, return 57 lettermen and a roster with a combined 285 starts. The team begins practicing for the ’17 season next month with the annual Spring Game March 18 at Reser Stadium.

Sept. 2 vs. Portland State – Fifth meeting between the two programs with OSU winning the previous four games. The game marks the fourth time the two have opened the season (2005, 2009, 2014). The only other meeting was game two of the 1983 season at what was formerly known as Civic Stadium in Portland.
Sept. 9 vs. Minnesota – The final contest of a two-game contract that began last year as the season opener in Minneapolis. UM, which won last year’s game 30-23, makes its first ever appearance in the state of Oregon. The Beavers have played on the Gophers’ field in 1954, ’78, ’81 and 2016. The game is the lone road contest for Minnesota until Oct. 7 at Purdue. The Gophers open the season Thurs., Aug. 31vs. Buffalo.
Sept. 16 at Washington State – It’s only the third time in the 102-game series that the two programs have met in the month of September; the games of Sept. 16, 1989 and Sept. 17, 1993 were also played in Pullman. RB Ryan Nall had an 89-yard rushing TD last season vs. the Cougars for the third-longest rush in school history; he accounted for three touchdowns rushing with his 131 yards. This will be the third contest of a five-game home stand to start the season for WSU.
Sept. 23 at Colorado State – OSU will be the first FBS team to play at the new Colorado State Stadium. The game will mark only the third meeting and first in Fort Collins. The two programs haven’t played since a CSU 17-8 victory Oct. 11, 1975 at then Parker Stadium. The Rams will be coming off a game the week before at Alabama.

QB Marcus McMaryion made his first start of the season last year after former starter Darell Garretson suffered a season-ending injury the previous week vs. Utah. The Beavers also played last year’s game without their leading rusher Ryan Nall. The Huskies play at Colorado the week before to open the Pac-12 slate with two straight road games.
Oct. 7 at USC – The Trojans return to the schedule for the first time since 2014; also will mark the first time OSU has played in Los Angeles in back-to-back seasons (at UCLA last year) since 2009 and ’10. OSU has not won at USC since 1960.

OSU won the first ever meeting in Corvallis during the 2013 season 44-17; CU edged OSU 17-13 in 2015 in a game where Ryan Nall had his first 100-yard plus rushing game (122 yds). The Buffaloes will be in a stretch of three of four Pac-12 games on the road when they travel to Corvallis.
Oct. 26 vs. Stanford – The seven-game win streak by Stanford in the series is the longest by any Pac-12 opponent vs. OSU. The Beaver defense held Stanford to its fewest points during the Cardinal’s six-game win streak to end the ’16 season.
Nov. 4 at California – The game begins a season-ending stretch of three of four on the road. OSU presented Gary Andersen his first Pac-12 win when Darell Garretson scored on a 16-yard QB draw in overtime for a 47-44 victory last year at Reser Stadium. The winning team in this series has scored at least 45 points over the last five games. The contest marks the last home game of the season for Cal.
Nov. 11 at Arizona – The second stretch of back-to-back road games during the season. QB Marcus McMaryion threw a career-high five touchdowns in a 42-17 win over the Wildcats at Reser Stadium last season. OSU has won six of the last seven matchups in Tucson after not winning in the initial 11 meetings at UA. The game is the only home date for the Wildcats in their last four games of the season.

It’s also the first time ASU has played at Corvallis since OSU beat then No. 7 ASU (35-27) Nov. 15, 2014 in a game that kicked off with a temperature of 34 degrees (dropped into the mid-20s by the fourth quarter). This is the latest date in the calendar the two teams have ever played. OSU has not played at Sun Devil Stadium since 2013; the longest void away from any Pac-12 stadium.
